Hit/Escape/Run: Self Defense Basics
May 3, 8:00 – 9:00pm
72 Newtown Road, Danbury CT

Most people who threaten you will be larger and stronger than you are.  (If they weren’t, why would they be threatening you?)  Fortunately, a basic understanding of physics and physiology will allow you to effectively counter their size and strength and give you an excellent chance of escaping a confrontation.  This one night seminar is an excellent introduction to basic concepts in self defense.  No previous experience is necessary. Seminar fee is $10 (free for regular students of Zen Budokai East).

Front Choke Response
April 12, 8:00 – 9:00pm
72 Newtown Road, Danbury CT

“There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” OK, that’s a really grotesque saying, but I appreciate the underlying message – the martial arts are extremely flexible, and it’s worthwhile exploring a number of potential responses to a given scenario. We’ll be playing with different ways that somebody could respond to a front choke attack. The goal is to give you an understanding of a range of options and find the response that works for you!
Seminar fee is $10 (free for regular students of Zen Budokai East).

Controlled Walk-Outs
March 31, 8:00 – 9:00pm
72 Newtown Road, Danbury CT

There may come a time where you need to “assist” a person to leave the room. The goal is to do so quickly, safely, and without injury or a lot of fuss. In this seminar, we’ll be reviewing some basic techniques for moving somebody around. These techniques are also effective for professions such as EMTs and Teachers who may need to restrain somebody without hurting them.
Seminar fee is $10 (free for regular students of Zen Budokai East).

History
Seated Self-Defense: Chair Jitsu!

February 24, 7:30 – 9:00pm
72 Newtown Road, Danbury CT

There are lots of different situations in which you may need to defend yourself.  One scenario which is almost never discussed is defending yourself from a seated position, where you are threatened or grabbed by an opponent who may be either seated or standing.  This unique one night seminar will explore a variety of situations, all from a sitting position.  Don’t miss out!
Seminar fee is $15 (free for regular students of Zen Budokai East).
